WOMEN'S MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY

Women's Mental Health Advocate/Speaker

Dr. Cheston educates audiences in the awareness of Postpartum Depression. Her energetic and captivating presentations offer insight into the suffering by women (and their families) whom have experienced postpartum mental disorders. Although effective treatment is available, postpartum mental disorders often are undiagnosed and untreated. Increasing awareness within the medical community suggests the need for more education regarding postpartum disorders among medical professionals and the general public. Thus, her advocacy activities have occurred within the medical community and in other settings.

Dr. Cheston's personal experience with Postpartum Depression persuaded her to become an eager, tireless advocate, using her candidness to eradicate the stigmas often associated with mood disorders. Her mission is to bring about an awareness of mental health issues, particularly as the issues relate to women. As a wife and mother, she believes that education about mood disorders, including symptom recognition, will result in hope, effective treatment, and the preservation of families and other relationships.
